Open House

Got selected to do Open House. Supposed to go station by station showing groups of parents what we do and answer questions but Mr Ng said everyone show everything. Some parents are friendly but others like, stare at you, eyes wide open, not even blinking, then you say something they turn to the mac for like 2 seconds and look back at you and respond with an expressionless "uh huh". Some ask totally irrelevant questions after my every sentence then in the end I explained almost nothing. The morning crowd was terrible. We were at Champagnat Gallery in the morning when suddenly, you see strangers practically flooding the entire area so bad that you could not even move to the toilet.

FAQ
Q: How much is the mac?
A: 2.6K?

Q:Wa so expensive arh?
A:Erm, ya, basic macbook costs 1.8K, you have a student rate, all applications and anti-virus pre-installed, anti-theft and Microsoft Office all bundled in, so why complain?

Q:Will my son play games?
A:Like, duh, if he is normal?

Q:So how to control him?
A:Most games are made for Windows so they will most likely play online games so we will be able to monitor his actions and lock his screen if necessary.(Quote from Mr Ng)

Q:So how to stop him when he is at home?
A:Parental Controls? There's a reason why you are given an admin pass right?

Q:So my son won't be allowed to install his own software?
A:If he wants to install something, he can approach his teacher or ask you? Basically, the school doesn't really give a shit what you have on the mac just don't do wrong stuff in school. I know people with 39GB of porn(I once tagged who it was>.<).

Q:Will you have to bring it to school everyday?
A:Yes unless you are told not to do so(almost never). You can keep it in the school lockers but it is not so safe and you are supposed to do homework on it?

Q:Is it heavy?
A:Does 2.3KG sound heavy?

Q:Ya but my son so small and weak cannot carry just a small little extra 2.3KG?
A:Go eff yourself.

Q:So now you use this to do homework, etc?
A:Its like 50:50. We still use pen and paper.

Q:That  means everyday before recess teacher teach then after recess sit by yourself in school doing self-study?
A:I wish.

From Rong Kang's table:

Q:Why is the mouse(Mighty Mouse) so wierd?
A:Its an APPLE MOUSE?

Q:How is this different from Windows?
A:We use iLife and still use Microsoft Word and we have functions which helps us sort out our screens.(He demonstrates Expose. Some kid comes up ask if he can use. Rong Kang foolishly allow and that kid spam Expose saying "Ooooo flying Windows!)
